Otomen, Vol. 1 by Aya Kanno
Otomen, Vol. 1 by Aya Kanno

I give it a four instead of two because as much as I hated this manga, at this point, I like the fact that it played on my emotions so strongly and it takes a lot to do that and I admire Aya Kanno for being able to do that so well. I kind of felt like this was a bit rushed though. I think at one point I wanted to shake him and be like “WHY YOU DO THIS TO ME?” and that honestly takes an amazing sort of story writing to get me so worked up over a character and story like this. I asked that same thing so many times during the whole extent of the manga because I am a sucker for someone being true to themselves even if it’s a guy who likes girly things. I may resent Kiyomi currently, but it just proved that she filled her role as an Anti-Otomen. That’s about it though causes the content between them really got my blood to boil, but like my partner says, “That’s a great sign of character if they can make you feel so strongly, no matter if it’s for or against them” and that is very correct. I love the 17 and 18 volume covers and they look like they belong together which makes me so happy. It took me a while to finish it because it got me so worked up. I mean, besides the themes of making someone into something you want is not cool but the fact that the earlier volumes could have less fillers and an earlier start on the ending arc could have made it feel a little less pushed and overbearing.
